Comparative government is extremely interesting. A friend and I had a conversation with my current APUSH teacher when he saw my friend studying the review book. The teacher taught the class at his former school and said that he doesn’t understand why more schools don’t offer it. Remembering the information shouldn’t be a problem; most of it is either found in other AP classes (human, world, and US gov) or from reading the news.

Agreed, I find comp gov very interesting. And it’s useful for debate as well, if you happen to partake.

In our school its mandatory to take the AP comparative politics class.
so I have no choice ![]()
We’re using the Kesselman book and Oneil.
Our teacher teaches really hard
even though half our class won’t take the test
her tests are from previous AP test questions
any tips on how to study?

Most of us just read the Ethel Woods book.

I’m going to bump this so we can start posting some practice MCs and FRQs.

or i’ll just bump this!

I’m so glad I don’t have to take this exam until May 19th (thank you AP French for conflicting).

Lucky! I wish I didn’t have to take AP US and AP Comp. on the same day :(.

I took a practice MC test in AP U.S. Gov today and managed a pretty high 5. I’m nervous about the essays, but overall feeling pretty good.

This, on the other hand, is not so easy. Both AP Gov exams come with the same class at my school (a “two-for-one” deal), but we just started learning the material (not reviewing) the comparative material in the middle of March. I have Ethel Wood’s guide, but have not used it very much because I expected our coverage to go more in-depth than a basic outline (ex. We didn’t even discuss the EU outside of the controversy of involvement in it in the U.K.).

I took a practice exam for AP Comparative Gov and missed 11 out of the 55 questions (one skipped). Much of this material seems to be brand new. Also, when looking at sample FRQs I have a general idea of what I need to answer but can never come up with specifics (ex. Specific policies the leaders of Iran have enacted towards democratization).

So, basically my question is this: Does anyone have any tips to help me prepare as best as possible for this exam? Like, should I focus on general vocab or specific policies of the various governments, etc.? Also, does anyone think I can practically self-study my way to a 5 in the 10 days or so I have left?

Thanks for the help.

Bump/Double Post, sorry. But I just had to share this; for those of you who don’t watch SNL, Lonely Island did a digital short/spoof on Iran’s president Ahmadinejad and his statement about homosexuality in Iran.

This is the video, and I have lost count of how many times I have watched it: [Hulu - Saturday Night Live: Digital Short: Iran So Far](http://www.hulu.com/watch/16771/saturday-night-live-digital-short-iran-so-far). Just a little humor for you guys who are stressed about the exam like me.

Is there any way that a self-studier could access a previously administered ap exam?

I took both of the practice tests on Ethel Woods, I got 4 wrong on the first one, and 11 wrong on the second one. According to the past threads about AP Curves, 58.33% translates to a 5, is the Ethel Woods practice test easier/harder/about right compared to the real thing?

I bought an actual test from College Board. 81/120 (~67%) for a 5

How many MC questions do you think that translates to, assuming you do about the same or a little worse on the FRQ?

does anyone know where i can find the answers for practice questions in ethel wood book?

ryanxing, where could I buy one form the college board?

Guys the exam is Monday so let’s not let this thread die just yet. If anybody has any exams that they found, it would be very nice if you would post them on here. Or, just start posting questions so that we can be prepared as possible.

How hard do you guys think the Ethel Wood sample exams be in comparison to the actual exam?

I wish I could answer that question. I used REA instead of Ethel Woods :(.

hey doodz. first off, good luck to everyone taking the exam. i’m sure we’ll all do great.
secondly, does anybody have any other resources aside from ethel and REA? anybody know of anything online maybe?
