Thread title: Meant to include "AP Test" level of difficulty, my mad.

Basically since there's 0 released exams for APCS A, I was wondering how hard the actual test is going to be? I understand there's the 2008 released practice test and 2009 released exam, but there was still the AB test at this point (so I'm assuming these will be super easy compared to the actual test?)

I've taken the 2008 released practice test and got 36/40 multiple choice correct, but then again there was still the AB test. For the Barron's book multiple choice, I get around 25/40 correct which is super low =/ The FRQ are super easy for me but the multiple choice is pretty hard.

So for anyone who has taken the 2010 or 2011 AP exam, please let me know how hard it is in comparison to the Barron's book. Thanks.

I took the 2010 AP exam. It was easy as hell. There was one semi-difficult free-response question, but nothing else. I would be very surprised if you didn’t get a 5.

The real test is much more straightforward than Barron’s. Also, assuming you did really well on the FR questions, you probably scored a 5 with Barron’s anyways.

Hey thanks for the response.

I didn’t take the FRQ on the Barron’s book, I’ve mainly done the released ones in class. I get anywhere between 6-9 points out of 9. A lot of 9’s. However, I just looked at the CollegeBoard website and we haven’t done the 2010 or 2011 FRQ which I’m assuming are a lot harder since the test was re-done then to include some AB material.

For the Barron’s multiple choice, the questions can just be really tricky. I make a lot of small mistakes on them, not really sure why… Was the actual exam a lot easier than the Barron’s (from what you remember), or what?

Thanks.

I remember that the 2010 test was about as easy as the 2009 one. I heard a couple of my friends say that the 2011 MC was difficult though, but they aren’t the best CS students either.

I have done the FRQ for the AB test for hw, and they seem about as easy as the FRQ from the A test. There is just different material (data structures and stuff).

If you do Barron’s a lot, you will probably find the real test much more straightforward. If you know all the new material on the A exam, you shouldn’t have much of a problem.

I’m taking the 2009 test on Tuesday as our midterm grade. I haven’t bought it so hopefully I do decent on that.

Oh and I just remembered, there’s the multiple choice questions included on the CollegeBoard site. I’ve done the first 20 and got 16/20 correct. Do you remember if this was about the level of difficulty on the actual test?
