So I was just wondering if any of you have taken an online class of AP Computer Science, which is what I’m considering.
I am not that experienced with the more complex areas of computers, like programming.
I know what an average student would know in the modern days… Haha.
My school only offers it as an online class at home, so I was just wondering if it is really difficult to learn (for someone who is inexperienced).
Its honestly not that hard to self study. I am taking it in school rn, and I studied it over summer to get ahead and I have a 96 in it rn. Its not that hard to study. Get daniel yiang’s java intro book and also the barrons ap test prep book in addition to the online course, and you should do fine!
I’m currently taking APCS via FLVS, and I honestly can’t imagine taking it in a brick-and-mortar setting. I really think that the computer is the only way this course should be taken.
Obviously your experience may vary, but I’ve found that APCS is a pretty time-consuming class. It’s not so much about computer knowledge or math as much as it’s about logical thinking and what not. I spend a lot of time writing programs in my class, it probably takes up 10 or so hours per week from me. It’s very rewarding though, and I’m having a lot of fun.
