AP Computer Science? Or AP Statistics?

I am a rising senior and I suddenly got a free period because I dropped a world language (for an unfortunate reason) so I'm debating what class to take between AP Comp Sci and AP Stat.
I have a heavy workload with five other APs and I would like to have an easier class so I can maintain a good GPA.
For your information, I do not have any experience with computer programming but I am interested.

As long as you already have 4 years of math, take whichever one interests you the most.

Both are awesome classes. I’d just take whichever one has a better teacher.

I heard amazing things about my school’s AP Stat teacher but I heard my schools AP Comp Sci teacher doesnt really do much… So I guess in this case AP Stat would be better?

Besides the point, take as many AP as possible.

Anyways, whatever class that would pertain to the major that you are going to apply for will help more. I would strongly suggest AP Calculus/AP Stats because colleges love these core math classes (especially Calculus) and AP Comp Sci is considerably boring and tedious and doesn’t essentially help unless you apply for a major in a Computer type of field. So, in a nutshell, AP Stats. Hope that helps!

Computer related field* would be a better way of saying that. But you understand what I mean

Yeah right! And I am taking AP Calc BC as well! For my major, I’m thinking about business and/or engineering so Statistics shouldn’t hurt right? Thank you for your advise!!

Both classes are great. Whichever you can learn the most from and which can help you in your future endeavors. Be ready to work though.

Engineering majors which require statistics usually require a calculus-based statistics course. AP statistics can be used as a gentle introduction to the subject. Engineering majors (other than computer engineering) typically have a MATLAB-using computing for engineering course, while computer engineering majors typically need introductory computer science courses, of which AP computer science may or may not apply to.

Business majors generally require statistics, although they may or may not accept AP statistics.

Thanks for your advises! I think I’m taking AP Stat since it is most likely to be helpful regardless of which major I end up choosing!
