AP Computer Science Self Study

Hello, here is my situation.

My school is not offering AP computer science this year, which is a bummer because I was really looking forward to it. My thoughts have since turned to self studying the course. I have A LOT of experience in Java, like, I just got a $250.00 check for some Java freelance work. I picked up a Barron's study guide... but I definitely do not do as well as I think I should... as in I get a 3. I can kill the free response but wither on the MC. I think this stems from having a largely informal knowledge of the subject.

Can someone explain to me how the whole A and AB thing works. Can you take both? Must you take one before the other?

How many hours am I looking at putting in so that I can target my weak areas and score a 5.

Thanks for any input :)

U don’t need to take A before AB, AB just has a lil more stuff in the curriculum. Sounds like u could easily 5 on the AB; I took the class with my friends who knew a lil programming and they finished the material in a month practically. I slacked and copied their code and still 5’d the exam, so I say go for it.

Unfortunately, I don’t think they’re going to have the AB version next year.

APCS AB is already in the great AP heaven :(

As of the 2010 AP Examination Testing Session, there will not be any AP Computer Science AB examinations.

Anyways, you still have plenty of time. Just keep studying.
