AP Computer Science?

I have very minimal experience in programming. I watched about 10 videos on tutorials in programming in java which only showed me simple input/output commands. However I'm very good in math. I took honors last year and got an A. So I signed up for AP Computer Science and was wondering how hard it would be to get an A- or above. My GPA is high so I don't want anything lower than an A- even in an AP. So would I be fine or am I screwed?

AP CompSci doesn’t require much coding experience at all, but being good at math should help you quite a bit. The course is only difficult when you don’t have a good teacher to make you proficient at reading and writing code.

Just make sure to pay attention when your teacher walks your class through code, to make sure you know what’s going on in the programs.

I was worried about going into the class blind, but it turned out just fine (in fact, I enjoyed it so much that I’m making CS my second major!). Like reed207 said, being good at math helps, even though you don’t actually have to do any math. I think it’s because people who are naturally good at math are often very logical and have a certain thought process that works well with coding and understanding codes. Just try to keep up for the first few weeks, even if it doesn’t make a lot of sense, because everything should fall into place eventually.

At my school, we have APCS as an online class and it makes me curious why my school doesn’t provide as many AP classes as others according to the ones that most people on this website probably go or have went to. Even though I have some programming skills and do great at math, I’m not sure if it would be easy doing it by myself.
