AP Course Load

Hello,

I am currently a junior in high school and I was wondering if my overall course schedule will be competitive or sufficient for applications to top tier schools. I have taken APUSH, am currently taking AP Chem, AP Calc AB, and AP World History. Next year, I will be taking AP Calc BC, AP Psych, AP Bio, AP Spanish, and AP Language.

I took no AP classes freshman year because none were available to me at my school and only APUSH sophomore year because that was the only AP available at that time. However, I scored a 2 on that exam. I transferred to another school the next year (unrelated reasons to either AP load or score) that has similar course restrictions, but students only are able to take like 1 or 2 more AP classes than I did in their first two years. Based off of my overall schedule, is my total projected course load enough for top tier schools, and does it demonstrate how I have taken most of the difficult classes offered? Also, will this 2 on the APUSH exam affect my chances at these schools, even if I score 4s and 5s from now on?

Here is a basic sample of how my projected course load compares to my current peers:

1 student at current school: 11-12 AP

Me: 8 AP

The amount of APs you take don’t really mean anything if you’re not doing well on the test or class. Make sure you’re not putting too much on your plate.

Okay thanks for your response. Would the AP score for APUSH hurt my chances?
