Hello, I've been contemplating how many AP's I should take. I am a junior and took AP Bio last year and got a 3 on the exam. I am currently taking Ap Lit, APUSH, and AP Psy and have chemistry added. My school is a private school who offers their AP courses online through a website called Apex. I looked over the first assignment and I can't answer any of the questions let alone sit down and read the reading pages for that assignment, which was about 75 pages in the Jesperson textbook. Idk if I will be able to take Chem. Also I plan on doing Dual Credit next semester for comp 1 and gov in the summer, any thoughts? Thank you.

I would drop Chem. AP Chem is a hard class even with a teacher. My best friend took it last year, she’s always been a straight A student in science classes (including Chemistry Honors) without much if any studying. She managed to get by with a B+ and 3 on the exam, she only missed one class the entire year, stayed after with her teacher for help weekly and studied for nearly two hours a day. She also did not have a schedule as rigorous as yours. Just something to think about.

some courses just don’t translate into online learning. I cannot suggest you try chem, lit, calc, or euro history. There may be others.

You don’t need more than 7 or 8 AP courses to demonstrate you’ve taken a very rigorous course load. Just don’t leave yourself with a lot to take senior year because you’ll regret it in the spring when everyone else has gotten into college and has put their studying in granny gear and you’re still pedal to the metal.

Thanks! This really does help a lot. I’ll try to get rid of AP Chemistry. I’ll still be taking AP LIT, AP Pysc and APUSH, what do you think about the Dual Credit? Is it a good Idea and would colleges view it optimistically? It’ll be at HCC.

the only dual I have experience with is Chem.

How was that?

It was my D’s, and it was pretty intense. She got an A, and a 4, but when I asked her if she would use the 4 to get out of college chem 1 & 2 she said that she’d certainly take one college chem course just to make sure she knew the material. She was thinking about majoring in science at that time.
