In terms of admissions to more selective universities, how detrimental is it for me to have only 1 AP course (AP Calculus)?

Now before you laugh, the key point here is that I live in Canada, and at my secondary school AP Calc is the only AP course offered. Does this make a difference, or should I have signed up for (expensive) private lessons and written the AP exams outside of school?

Thanks

Colleges will view your application in the context of what was available to you. If your school only offers one AP, then it’s fine that you only took one. However, this also means that they’ll look a bit more to your other test scores to see how you have achieved at such a school (and because you have no other AP Scores, though AP Scores are of less importance than SAT / Subject Tests / ACT). It’s fine, don’t worry. Good luck :)

Thanks for the input.
