Okay, if i cancel the AP gov test, do i need to tell UCI?

Lets say i want to take AP Bio. But i do want to take bio anyways in my freshman year. Will the bio class affect my GPA? I want it to affect my GPA so i can have a high gpa for med school, so in that case i wouldn’t take the ap test. I would like to know the same for AP chem because i want to take both of those classes over. So what im asking is that if the ap test covers a class, do i get the gpa when i retake the class?

You need to tell UCI about not takign the AP gov test. Because takign AP tests are not a part of admissions, it will not affect you at all.

If you pass the first bio and chem classes via AP courses you will not be given credit for retaking. If you refrain from passing the AP chem and bio tests purposely in order to give yourself a head start/GPA boost, then you will help ensure your A for sure. I know you're really serious about college academics/I, but retaking it if you already know the subject may very well be boring. In a sense you do have time to transition, but you'll seriously be bored out of your mind in class haha. I enjoy learning stuff I don't know so taking a class on something I already know would make me fall asleep... I recommend taking the next level of both classes while being on a light load (12 units) or take 16+ units while taking the first level of chem *or bio to help you keep going.

I have to take chem h2a anyways regardless of if i pass or do not pass the AP test.

I'm not sure about bio; but since i switch to BME i dont think i need to take it again.

Are you saying that if I pass the AP test, the class does not affect my gpa? I'm asking someone who goes to uci right now and he says any class you take will affect your gpa. Am I misunderstanding what you said?

So for bio, what happens in these cases?

I take the AP test and get a 5. I retake bio and get an A. Does it count to my GPA?

I dont take the AP test. I take bio and get an A. Does it count to my GPA?

I had a similar situation with calculus, but my counselor told me I wouldn't recieve any credit for it.

"Students that repeat a course for which a passing grade has already been received and which is not approved as repeatable for credit will receive a UR and no credit will be given. Students that complete a course which substantially repeats coursework already taken at another university, or for which they earned credit via Advanced Placement or other examination will receive a notation of L6 on their transcript and no credit will be given."

After all that, the 2nd situation would be valid.

Is there any cut off limit for how many credits you can recieve with the AP scores? Because I can get up to 80...

I know that's a lot(I'd be a junior after 1st quarter), so I assume they have some cut-off to how many AP scores you can use.

Anyone know?

There is no cutoff. A few of my friends came in with 70-80 units. They're already in senior standing but it doesn't necessarily mean much. You'll still be a freshman when you get in. Only your standing will be junior status :D.
