I am an admitted student to peabody, and I am trying to do some research before making my choice on colleges. I looked up the AP credit policy and it says "No form of advanced placement credit can be used in fulfillment of the Achieving Excellence in Liberal Education (AXLE) requirements for students in the College of Arts and Science." but it does not explain the policy for HOD (peabody) majors. According to the HOD site, there is a core liberal arts curriculum (http://peabody.vanderbilt.edu/Documents/pdf/hod/HOD_Lib_Core_11.pdf), but there is no mention as to whether or not AP credit may be used in place of these classes.. If anyone has any information or can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I’d strongly encourage you to call an office at the Peabody school for this question. The receptionists tend to be very helpful when asking specific questions like these, and you’re more likely to get an accurate answer that way than asking on a forum like this. Congrats on your admission!

Whatever the policy, there will be limitations on how many AP credits apply towards your graduation requirements at Vanderbilt and its peer colleges. There is no such thing as coming in practically as a sophomore or so on. AP credits might be useful to place into higher numbered courses for instance instead which make it more doable to double major, go abroad, add in minors or certificates. I remember a class that was for AP fives in Chem only…that I think offered Organic earlier on.
congrats on your admission!

^Not for engineers ;).
