AP Credit/Placement Tests

Hmmm okay so I'm new to this.
I just took the AP Spanish exam today. But I am also signed up to take the Spanish placement test at orientation.
So now how does this work? I know if I get atleast a 3 I will get credit hours, but what about the placement test? What will taking the placement test do for me? Can I possibly earn hours from that? Or will it just exempt me from taking a foreign language where as the AP credit exempts me AND gives me hours? Gahh I'm confused! Help!

You can earn credit, but not directly from the placement exam - there are some steps you need to take after determining your placement. There are some informative links at http://www.indiana.edu/~bulletin/iub/coas/degree.html#for. I do know that the results from all of the tests that you take (AP, SATII, placement) are evaluated, and credit and exemptions are noted eventually on your transfer credit report and transcript in OneStart. You should also be able to get the full details of what they mean when you go to orientation.
