so i took AP chem in high school and i did well on the exam. So i can exempt chem 101 and 102 and start with chem 103. But i don't wanna start with 103 since i'm only in calc 1. So i asked if i could start with 102 instead. They said if i take 102 instead I'd have to wait till the winter term and instead of taking chem 101 this term i can pick another elective. So should i start with 101 and have my GPA good or should I start with 102 next term and pick another elective this term and get more credits? So confused!
thanks for the help!

If you’re taking CHEM 103, I’m guessing that you’re some sort of health sciences or biology major? If you’re on the pre-med track, then waive the AP credit and start with CHEM 101, since not all med school will accept AP credit and you’ll be stuck taking higher level chem to fulfill the requirement. If you’re not on the pre-med track, then take the AP credit and start with CHEM 103. It’s actually the easiest one of the sequence. The teacher is very straightforward and the tests are exactly what you should be expecting. Easiest 5 credit course of my college career. More people messed up their GPAs with CHEM 101/102 since they can be a bit trickier if you don’t read the book.

Wow thank you so much for clearing this all up! I actually am a bio major looking to go to med school! And I did not know that some med schools didn’t except AP credits…so I’ll def be sticking with 101. Hopefully my AP background will help me do well! Thanks again!
