I was looking through the course catalog and in one place it says that AP credit cannot be used to satisfy diversification requirements, but under one of the departments they said that AP credit COULD be used for diversification requirements. So does anybody know exactly how this works? Can I clep out of being required to take a science course, for instance, if my AP test score is high enough?

to my knowledge, you can only fufill division requirements ON campus. AP credits come in handy with regards to your major. Ex: if you have a 4 or 5 in AP Lang/Comp or AP Lit you can start with a 200 level course instead of a 100.

some departments have diversifications requirements within the department (taking classes in different areas within that department, such as american vs. european history). that may be what the course catalog was referring to, but you will have to ask your advisor to be sure.

Ahhh, ok, that makes sense. Thanks!

You can get out of an intro bio lecture or two with AP bio, but not the labs. You can also pass straight to orgo with AP chem.
