AP Credit Question

The university I'm trying to transfer to requires Biology11 for my major. Since I passed the AP Biology exam in high school, my community college is willing to give me the Biology11 credit. But here's the problem: I'm not sure whether I should accept it or not. I've heard that it is recommended to complete every pre-req courses for your major. So that means even if I am exempt from taking Biology, I should do so anyway because it is one of the core classes for my major. Is this true? If it is, I'm going to take the class. I don't want anything to jeopardize my chances.

Look at the website of the colleges/universities that you are planning to apply to as a transfer, and see if your AP score will exempt you from the Biology class required for that major. If it will, then you are in the clear.

You should also find out what upper level bio classes would be useful for that major. You may want to use the AP credit to get you out of intro. bio so that you can take a more interesting upper level course.
