So I'm a senior this year and I'm taking 4 AP classes, but I only want to take 3 AP tests. Out of these classes, I was thinking about not taking the AP test for AP Gov. My question is does getting a 4+ in AP Gov fulfill the history requirement at UCLA so I don't have to take a history class at UCLA? The other thing is I took AP US History last year, and got a 4 on that test, so does that already fulfill the history requirement at UCLA so that AP Gov wouldn't even make a difference?

Or is history a subject at UCLA that AP tests cant exempt you from any GE history classes at all?

Just take a history class in HS and you have satisfied the American History and Institutions requirement. See [UCLA General Catalog 2013-14: Degree Requirements](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/catalog/catalog13-14-22.htm)

Ok thank you, but I was actually referring to if scoring high on an AP test for either of those history classes exempts you from taking GE history classes

In the spirit of the “give a man a fish” proverb: you can find the UCLA policy on AP credit and GE’s by using any search engine. I tried this and it was the very top result.

In College of L&S, AP does not fulfill GE requirements, but there may be other reasons to take the exam (e.g. collect units for class standing).
