AP credit questions

wishful thinking, here. assuming I get in (big assumption):

according to http://www.college.columbia.edu/bulletin/programs_of_study/placement.php, a 4 in AP Computer Science A gets me the same credit and placement as a 5 in AP Computer Science AB!?!?!?!?

^am I reading this right? it would be like saying a 3 in Calc AB gets the same credit as a 5 in Calc BC. which does not seem right.

AB is considerably more in-depth than A. I don't understand. I signed up for AB because some of my other schools don't even consider credit from the A exam because it's too easy. now I'm just confused.

thanks, everyone.

now off to hyperventilate some more and figure out how I can sleep in my mailbox for the next week or so.

Actually, while you're on that Calc example...if I recall correctly, a 4 on Calc AB does get you the same credit as a 5 on Calc BC. Can anyone confirm/deny? I don't have Columbia's chart right in front of me.

These just happen to be Columbia's standards.
What's the problem?

I don't seem to understand your question.
The page you provided states that regardless of which computer science AP exam you take, a score of 4 or 5 will give to 3 credits to Columbia and an exemption from the course COMS W1004. I'd take the easier computer science AP exam then.
Calc is pretty straight forward too. For each type of Calc AP exam, a specific score (4 or 5) will give you a specific amount of credits as long as you complete a specific math class there. Those math classes are stated.

5 in BC = placement up to calc 3
4 in BC = 4/5 in AB = placement up to calc 2

but you can talk your way through these or, if you've taken multi in high school, place out of calc entirely.
