AP Credit transfer? GPA or not?

When you use your AP credit to take in place of a class at Tulane, do they give you a 4.0 for the class, or do they just not count if when they calculate the GPA?

For example, I have a 5 in AP Chem, which can be in place of 8 credits. Will they give me 4.0 for those credits or will I just get the credit without the GPA being calculated into the total?

The AP “will not” be used one way or the other when calculating your GPA at Tulane.

One obtains AP credit via testing, not by performance in HS courses. I know of no college that awards credit otherwise.

So it would help me getting a higher GPA by getting an easy A retaking the classes that I can be exempted from with the AP score?

Not sure I understand what you are asking?

What I’m trying to ask is that when students use their AP score to exempt from a class, and get the credits, do they get a GPA with those credits?

No. One gets the credit, but GPA is not affected.

Good enough! Thanks! Then I will retake my calculus to get an easy 4.0 although I already have a 5 on AP Calc

we had a thread about this several months ago. I came to the same conclusion as you.
