Hi guys,

So if I understand it correctly, many medical schools do not accept AP credit for their required courses (science and math, usually). But does that mean that they don't care about other AP courses being counted toward your major? So for example, if I want to be a Biochem major and if I don't take English or Humanities because I have my AP credit, will they be OK with that, as long as I take my science and math courses WITHIN the university?

Sorry if this is a redundant question!

Who told you that? Very few medical schools have a problem with AP credit. The key is, will your UG institution give you credit for an equivalent class that they offer, and then put it on your transcript? If so, then you can use this table as a guide:

I agree with plumazul especially about Math. But, I believe that it is a good idea to retake Bio/Chem/PHYS for most premeds. Treat them as a review for MCAT.

Thanks guys! That link really helped a lot, too.

OK, I guess I said that incorrectly. Initially, I heard that a lot of them only accept them only if you take higher courses. I guess that’s still wrong, anyway. Haha.

So for humanities, if I use AP credit to fulfill my major requirements, then med schools shouldn’t have any problem with that, right? (Other than English, as shown in the document.)

Thanks again!
