AP Credit

Does AP English Comp count towards the Foundations ENG requirement. They want you to take ENG 105 and AP ENG Comp gives credit for ENG 110. Is their Test Credit page out of date? Or does AP ENG not offer any help to meet freshman writing? My daughter could take it as dual enrollment at CPCC and receive credit, but she would rather take AP.

UNC changed their writing requirements beginning the fall of 2012 by developing English 105, a Composition & Rhetoric course which took the place of the previously required two classes. The class touches on multiple writing styles. The AP course will potentially earn credit for ENGL 110 but your student will still have to take 105 (or 105i - which concentrates on one area of discipline, business or law as examples).

Thanks. That is what it looked like to me, but I couldn’t believe it. The local community college has a class which gives credit for Eng 105. I guess she will take that as dual enrollment. That is too bad since the AP Eng Lang would be a much more challenging class.
