AP Credit...

I will have AP credit for the following:
- Calculus AB (5)
- Calculus BC (at least a 3 hopefully...)
- Computer Science (3)
- Chemistry (at least a 3 hopefully...)
- Statistics (at least a 3 hopefully...)
- Comparative Government (at least a 3 hopefully...)
- U.S. History (4)

I am doing Pre-BizEcon... which classes do you recommend I skip at UCLA. Take into account that money is not a factor and I am looking for classes to skip that are hard. I want to take classes that will bolster my GPA, even if I can waive it w/ AP credit. Any suggestions?

A related question: If you get a 3-5 on ap us history, it says that it satisfies american history requirements..what does that mean exactly?

"If you get a 3-5 on ap us history, it says that it satisfies american history requirements..what does that mean exactly?"

all students (i believe in the united states) are required to take an "american history" class before they graduate. if you score a 3-5 on the AP US history exam, you will pass out of that.

keng, if you pass calc BC, it looks like you'll satisfy all the calc requirements needed for biz econ. and i believe if you passed the AP, they won't let you take the class again. in terms of pre-biz econ GPA requirements though, i'm not sure how that would affect you, because calc grades are taken into consideration for admission into the actual major.

Wait...so I cannot retake classes I have credit for? Isn't that decision up to me... if I feel like I want the review or what not...?

Ahhh....I just found out today that AP classes can't be used towards GE requirements!!??? Whaaa? that sucks! :(

Sorry for my whining! but I was always under the impression that passing AP exams was suppose to be "saving" me money! If it can't...why would we waste the money and effort on AP exams?

"I just found out today that AP classes can't be used towards GE requirements!!??? "

GE classes are required for everyone. ELECTIVE classes are classes that aren't GE's or part of your major, and you take those to help you reach the 180 unit minimum to graduate if your GE's and major requirements don't add up to 180. AP's then substitute for ELECTIVE units. Therefore, you will be saving money and graduating faster, but only on the condition that you finish your GE's and Major in less than 4 years.

for example....
Major requirements: 90 units
GE requirements: 50 units
still need to take 40 units (to get to 180)...
but has 45 AP units which cover up the 40 units
= graduate w/o having to take the 40 remaining units

ohhh....i gottcha. Sorry for the whining...lol. :) thanx...it made me feel a lot better knowing my efforts weren't wasted.

heh i think even if all the AP tests u took dont allow u to waver classes, the price is still good. i mean if u paid 800 bucks for 10 APs then that still saves u money if all the hard work wavers just ONE class at UCLA... right?

o yeah and i forgot that it helps u prepare mentally for college level work. xD

oh forgot to mention!! BOOST UP YOUR CLASS STANDING. once you hit 45 units, you get boosted up to sophomore standing.

don't underestimate the incoming freshmen. most of them either already are at sophomore standing or close to it. some might even be near junior standing. remember, REGISTRATION IS DONE BY CLASS STANDING so don't be left behind and get all the undesirable classes!
