For incoming freshman, when is the process supposed to start to get credits for passed AP exams and CC transferrable credits. My son emailed advising and was told that Advising will not start looking at this until the Freshman Orientation day by end of June?
For most schools, Freshman orientation is where the student will be given their list of applicable AP and CC credits towards their degree. My nephew whom was a Freshman this year was given a printout of his credits on the day of orientation. If you look through the AP credit policy for CPP and you have the CSU transferable classes available, you can get an idea of the courses that have already been fulfilled. Also assist.org will show which CC courses are CSU transferable.
From there prior to orientation, he could figure out a possible Fall semester schedule.
CPP has roadmaps for the majors to help formulate a Fall schedule: Academic Year Main Selection
Also, the academic advisor at orientation will help guide your student with the AP and CC credits.
Thanks Gumbymom. Yes he has plotted his course plan, based on the CPP CS roadmap, his AP and CC credits. I heard other advise that he might even be able to try starting registration by putting the courses in his “Cart” so it’s all ready by Orientation day, but he hasn’t tried this yet
