AP Credits and Course Selection??

I am an incoming freshman to the UW and I plan to go to medical school after undergrad.
So, I am wondering, if I am planning to go to medical school, should I take the intro classes again?? Teachers at my high school said that I better not skip the intro classes for what I intend to major in, because they might use different terms and cover few things that are not taught in AP classes. But then I reason, if UW recognizes the AP scores, they should have already made sure that students who received such scores should be capable of attending their more advanced classes.
I also realize that some medical schools do not accept AP/IB credits, so that makes prospective med school students required to take the prerequisites
I was thinking that, maybe, I could skip courses that are not science-related?? Or will I do fine (and well) skipping all the intro courses that I have received AP credits?
Also, for MATH, I had a 5 on AP Calc AB but I've never taken BC, is it better to go for MATH 124 or MATH 125??
I am so confused >.< I hope there will be some advisers/counselors during the A&O Session so I could ask them these questions!!!

I honestly think if you scored well enough on the AP exam, you should try to skip and do some review. Generally the intro classes are pretty competitive and sometimes the professors aren’t as ideal as you’d hope. Furthermore, if it turns out you know everything you learn in class, then it isn’t very beneficial for your learning. If you feel like you barely passed the class in high school and you feel you would not manage a higher level course, then maybe thats a reason to not use your AP credits.

Oh and I am glad that you had the same problem as me when I started because I too did well enough on the exam to skip to Math 125 but was a little unsure. Math 124 is all about derivatives and Math 125 is integration. Calculus BC stuff doesn’t occur until Math 126 so you don’t have to worry. Trust me when I say if you got a 5 on the exam, you should definitely skip straight to Math 125 and screw 124. Even though derivatives aren’t that big of a deal, some of the problems they ask on their exams are really difficult I tried helping my friends because I told them I was in 125 and derivatives shouldn’t be that difficult and the problems they give are way tougher than what is necessary to prove your understanding of a concept.

Oh and I also talked to a counselor when I was having this issue and they simply told me that they feel I should put my AP credits to use unless I felt I was really uncomfortable or unready. Hope this helps.

What AP tests did you take?

I think the only intro class that is probably significantly different from AP is biology. And UW doesn’t accept the biology test in lieu of UW’s intro series. For other classes, like chemistry, math, etc. I think there will be significant overlap with what you learned in AP classes, so there’s really no need to take the intro series again.
