Am I the only one that is confused by the AP credit section of the course catalog? haha

US History 4
Psych 5
Gov 3 (fell asleep, haha)
Eng Lit 4
Spanish Lang 4
2D Studio Art 4
Bio 5

With these scores, does this mean the only credit I will receive is for Biology? I've exempted language, but it's the elective part that confuses me. Will I get elective credit for USH, Gov, Eng Lit, and Studio Art? Would it be three credits per exam (so 12 credits total?)

I also noticed that the catalog said "NOTE: Credit for no more than six electives may be gained by examination." So does this mean I'm only eligible for 6 credits, and that I have reached the maximum amount of credits attainable by AP scores?

Also, if I received 6 credits at a local community college a year ago, how will those transfer to UChicago?

Yup, you’ve got it. You got out of a quarter of Intro Biology and you have your language competency. As far as I know, you can only declare credit for 6 elective quarters. Aaaaand community college credits most likely won’t transfer. My 8 AP tests and I definitely sympathize…I really wish they’d take more. If I’d gone to practically any other college I would be like, a junior already.

Yup, HUM/SOSC/CIV/Fine Arts are part of the Core and Chicago doesn’t let you use AP credits for those. OTOH, you have some decent preparation for tackling the Core!

S1 had 9 APs and got to use Physics C/E&M and Mechanics, Comp Sci AB and BC Calc for placement/credit, and US Gov’t/Comp Gov’t (Chicago only accepts BOTH for one elective) and Stat for elective credit.

He would have entered our flagship with junior status between APs and accelerated placement.

You’ll be allowed to accept history or English AP credits for elective credits, but you won’t be able to use them to get out of any core requirements.
