AP credits in Computer Science or Engineering

Questions for any engineering major or Computer Science major. S in for CS Games in the fall. There is no foreign language requirement. We have read all the information we received at Explore Day but still have questions about AP Credit. I do know where a 4 in AP Biology will fit in in the scheme of things.

In CS specifically or engineering do you get credit for and which category would the following come under?

AP Psychology grade 3 or 4
AP Calculus AB grade 4

AP Spanish grade 3
AP Computer Science BC grade 3

I don't know about engineering specifically, but this website may help you out:
http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/apexams.html

Thanks. In the engineering information they send to you it sounds like they only could a few of the courses listed in the link. Engineers do not have to take Foreign Language but I do think it a bit weird that AP language courses do not satisfy the foreign language requirement. Also if you took it in Junior year, you probably forget a lot of the language before taking the required USC language course when you start.

You will get a fast, personalized answer if you email your questions to uscartic@usc.edu

From three years ago, the only AP score that did any good was for computer science. There is a one course CS requirement for all engineering majors that will be waived if the AP score is high enough. The rest of the AP scores are basically worthless. Example, USC wants you to take Physics their way and does not care what you made on the AP exam.

This is the site to look at, but note how vague it is. http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/apprerequisites.html In reality you will not really know where you stand until advisement, which happens at orientation.

For engineering specifically:
http://viterbi.usc.edu/admission/freshman/apcredit.htm

With those scores/exams, you'll probably get 12 units of elective credit and Calculus I waived (if desired), plus another 4 units from the biology.

Otherwise, you need a 4 or 5 on an exam to count for course waivers.
