From what I have gathered, Trinity allows two credits to be earned by AP Tests. Pratt, on the other hand, allows virtually unlimited Science or Math AP Credits but restricts Social Sciences and Humanities AP credits to two. Any Duke students or teachers willing to verify this?

Pratt has a Social Sciences and Humanities breadth and depth requirement for five courses. Of these five, only two can be satisfied using AP credits. Any other credits in this category can count as regular electives, just not for the breadth and depth requirements. We kinda figure if you are going to come here, you should at least take three SS/H credits up the hill :)

Thanks, do you know if ENGLISH 29 and HIST 18A, 18B would count as breadth depth requirements? I earned these credits by scoring a 5 on both the AP Language and AP US History Tests. If so, I plan on not taking the AP Literature, AP European History, and AP Art History Tests this May to save money. Also, are all Math and Science AP credits transferable?

on my advisement report, it has my ap english literature and composition counted as english 20 for arts, literatures, and performances credit and when I talked to Dean Simmons (she's really helpful, you will get to learn) about my ap history credit, my ap us history credit will also count toward the breadth depth as part of civilization. So i think the answer is yes but you might want to call Dean Simmons just to confirm it.

Thanks for the info. I called Dean Simmons' office and am waiting for a call back from her.

I also had a question about Physics. I scored a 4 on both sections of the Physics C test; the AP section of Pratt's website says the following:
Pratt students receiving the AP credit for Physics 61 and /or PHY 62 must complete one PHY 61, 62 or 63 on campus to fulfill the physics requirements.
So basically with my AP scores I get credit for both Physics 61 and 62 if I take just one of them on campus?

RE: Physics - that is correct - if you come in with AP credit for two Physics classes, you can either take one of them or the third one to "validate" the credits.

Don't be too surprised if Dean Simmons doesn't get back to you in the next ten days or so - we are going through advising and registration right now :)

Thank you everyone. You have been very informative. Before I make my final decision re: AP Tests, will there be any advantage for me to take the tests for AP Euro, AP Lit, and AP Art History this May? If I cannot earn credits towards graduation with these tests (as I have already fufilled the requirement with AP Lang and AP US History) then I will not take them.

Thanks!

my high school had a policy of if you are enrolled in the ap class you must take the ap test or else the course will be changed to honor status instead of ap status. If you went thorugh the year studying for the test you might as well take the test, arent' there like some ap awards? but the ultimate decision is up to you

I'm already an "AP Scholar with Distinction" and could become an "AP National Scholar" if I took all three tests. My teachers will understand if I don't take them.
