AP credits question for College of Engineering

I'm looking at the undergrad program for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, and it says that over the course of my 4 years I'll be taking 6 Humanities/Social studies courses.

I got 5s on AP Lang and AP Literature, so I should satisfy English 1A. However, this is where I'm confused. I checked the Reading and Composition "A" list, and English R1A and N1A are listed there. Is 1A the same as R1A/N1A, or are they totally different. Are my 5s in AP Lang/Lit useless if 1A is not the same as R1A/N1A?

Additionally, I've received 5s on AP World and American History, so how does that factor into my Humanities/Social studies requirements? It says in the undergraduate handbook that the AP history classes give:
"Lower division humanities credit. Students may link this AP credit
with an upper division history course to satisfy the Humanities series requirement (2 courses from the same
department)."

I'm not sure what that means. Can I get even more credits for both the AP World and American tests, or can I only use one of my scores in getting myself credits? And if I use those AP credits to their maximum benefit, does that mean I can get out of one lower division and one upper division SS/H course?

Lastly, I'm pretty sure I got a 4 or a 5 on my AP American Government exam, but in the undergrad handbook it says "If a student receives a score of 3 or better in BOTH the Political Science AP tests...", so does that mean that my single 4 or 5 is useless alone?

Well, you get at least 2.7 credits for every AP test you take so that’s what your AP Gov score gets you. You only get AP credit for 2 out of those 6 require Humanities/Social Studies courses so you can use one of the 5s on AP Lang/Lit to get out of some R1A/N1A/R5A/N5A class but you must take a R1B/N1B/R5B/N5B class to complete the other half of the Reading and Composition requirement. You can use either of your 5s on AP World/American History as a substitute for another Humanities/Social Studies course. And no AP replaces upper div classes.

How are credits related to units?

Also, just confirming: In other words, either my AP Lit or AP Lang score, and either my APWH or APUSH score is useless?

Lastly, I’m confused when you say that no AP replaces upper div classes. So, what does the whole “Students may link this AP credit
with an upper division history course to satisfy the Humanities series requirement” thing mean?

there’s a series requirement. So you can use your APUSH or APWH as a lower div class and take an upper division history class and complete your series requirement. Basically, the AP class serves as the pre-requisite.

since u can only use 2 APs to satisfy the humanities requirement, any additional APs that you may have taken will basically be useless (but u still get credits for all of them and can use them for the series requirement). so basically, the minimum number of humanities u have to take at berkeley is 4, 2 of which must be upper div. Within those 4, u can choose classes that satisfy your series, AC, and R&C B requirement.
your 5 on AP lang will get u our of R1A.
by the way, unlike L&S, engineers have a long list of classes they can take for R&C. refer to the humanities sheet they gave u.
