AP credits to Canadian Universities

Hi everyone,

I'm considering taking AP exams in May, but I don't know much about the policies of Canadian universities regarding these credits. If anyone has experience or knowledge about this, help is greatly appreciated!

I'm considering: Calculus AB or BC, and Micro & Macro Economics.

Schools: York, Western, Queen's, and UofT.

Questions: I went on the schools websites but they were quite ambiguous to me.. I know Western doesn't accept economics, but it seems that other schools do. Anyone want to confirm this? My question is: how are AP credits treated differently from normal university credits? For example, how are they used in calculating GPA? Can they be used as prerequisites for subsequent years? etc etc

Thanks in advance!

Hey Fatum,

Check out this site for an overview of the situation at different Canadian unis (credit versus placement) : [Advanced Placement Program Canada](http://www.ap.ca/pages/04_AP_policies.htm).

I should add that it is rare that a university will include AP credit in your GPA, but I haven’t looked into all schools, so you may want to check out each individual school’s policy.
