Can AP classes that are recognized by UMD be applied towards fulfilling requirements for electives if they are not considered as GenEd? For example, to qualify for a degree in Economics, you need about 50 credits worth of electives (after you’ve taken all the GenEd & Core Econ requirements). So, for example, can an AP (with a score of 4 or 5) in French, which is recognized as FREN203, be used as a 3-credit elective course by Econ majors? Or are AP credits only given towards GenEd or core requirements of the major?
Yes, my D had an AP course for which she received elective credit. That elective credit counted towards her total Graduation credits and is listed on her transcript.
Excellent! Thanks for your response.
