AP Credits

Hello,
I was wondering if not passing an AP exam will affect me in any way during the college admissions process. I got a 2 on the AP Biology exam, and the thing that sucks is that my major in college is going to be very closely related to biology! That’s why I’m so bogged down over this, any thoughts?

AP scores have no effect on college admissions unless you are planning to apply to the super elite schools. They are used for college credit and official reports are not sent until after you have been admitted. You can not self report your scores below 3 on the applications since any score below 3 will not be sent by the College Board. Admissions would like to see course rigor and your actual grades from the AP class. These matter more.

It depends on where you’re applying. Super elite colleges do consider AP scores for admissions, especially if the subject/score is related to your intended major. But, as many CC users have mentioned, the impact probably on’t make or break your chances. Most other colleges only use AP scores for credit/placement.

I’m speaking generally of the UCs if that helps… @soosoo948

@Gumbymom , sorry I don’t understand what you mean by “You can not self report your scores below 3 on the applications since any score below 3 will not be sent by the College Board.” Aren’t you supposed to self report all scores, whether pass or fail?
