AP Credits

Georgetown seems to accept alot of AP credits from what I've seen online. Is it wise to claim all the credit you can and get out of some requirements, or should I actually take the classes anyway as a learning experience?

Also, for the AP credits you have, do you get a grade that goes into your GPA, for instance is a 5 worth an A? Or do you just get credit for them?

For some AP exams, only elective credit it given? How much of that is needed and how useful is it to get it?

You just get credit, there's no grade attached. Depending on the school, however, most 5's you get credit for actually end up being elective credit.

They automatically once you send the scores give you credit for whatever you can get credit for. I'm in the SFS and mostly got elective credit, but a 5 on European History and a 5 on English language fulfilled 3 core courses for me (both Englishe courses and 1 of 3 history courses) which is a big help. Introductory courses can be somewhat of a pain/bore/frustration, so it's nice to have AP fulfill some of those requirements.
