AP Econ. & AP Comp. Science Book Suggestions

Hi!

My school doesn't offer AP level courses, so I have decided to take a few for self-study. Currently, I have only chosen AP Economics (Macroeconomics and Microeconomics) and AP Computer Science A (since AB is not offered).

I know there is a book suggestions thread, but I am a bit confused due to multiple people suggesting different things. I have, however; managed to pick one book for the economics part.

Economics - 5 Steps to a 5 Economics (macro & micro)
Computer Science - I was going to go with Barrons, but their 2010-2011 edition only comes out in February, after which time I feel it would be too late to study. Will their 2009-2010 book (which was made for Comp. Science A and AB) still be a good choice for this?

Thanks in advance! This is a great forum and resource for people who need it.

Sorry for the double post, but I’m now reading around that the PR book for Micro/Macro is better than 5 steps to a 5. Any suggestions?

I heard the same, only from the threads stickied at the top. But I’ve also heard that PR isn’t enough…

But yea, like you, I’m self-studying Micro/Macro using PR and it seems good so far. I never tried 5 steps to a five unfortunately.

Get a textbook. The ones I’ve heard that are good are by:
Krugman and Wells
Mankiw
McConnell and Brue

5 Steps to a 5 are not the best; I used it for AP World. Stick with PR and Barrons instead.
