i dont take either macro or micro economics at my school but i heard that it was very common for students to independently study either. it seems that many have done well. is this accurate to your knowledge? and what is the best book to use?

I am self studying both. Barrons is very helpful.

any other ideas

I'm self studying both with Mankiw's Principles of Economics and using the CliffsAP book.

yes. I know several ppl who've spent a month to thoroughly cover the materials on micro/macro. I'm taking micro at school and taking macro as self study.

its not too late to start now. but I believe there is a deadline to sign up for the AP exam in May. I think it was sometime in March. My councellor told me that she has ordered the AP exams today.

Barrons is very useful, but I personally prefer a Mankiw's book and a much more simplified note like Princeton Review. Barrons has ALL of the info u'll ever need plus a bit more extra. I bought Barrons thinking that I'll benefit more from it but the small fonts just makes my eyes tired and I sometimes find that some of the crucial concepts are overly simplified into one sentence.

use a book + prep book, but many claim getting 5's just by using Barron

good luck and remember to sign up quick!

I have read the Mankiw over and over self studying, but I really like the CliffsAP because it was the only one at the bookstore (lol) and it covers the concepts pretty well and concisely.
