AP Economics?

My school wouldn't place me into AP Economics for next year (senior year) because I currently have a B in my AP American History class, and you need an A to continue with AP. So they're putting me into regular economics. My problem? I've never been in a "regular" (ie unweighted) class.

Should I talk to the department and do all that I can to take the course? AP Econ is one of the hardest classes at my school, but I'm afraid going into a regular class after having taken AP social studies courses for two years will look terrible on college apps. Plus, I wanna major in math (A+ in AP Calculus right now), and from what I've heard econ is kinda related to math...

What should I do?

This.

Microeconomics uses math a lot. Don't know about Macro.

The intro courses aren't math-heavy (just simple basic algebraic equations and graphical analysis), anyone who's graduated middle school can do them. But higher level economics course have a significant amount of math (like, advanced calculus and far beyond).
AP Econ is really not a hard course at all, you should really, really get yourself into that course. A normal Economics course that isn't AP would be just.. a waste. Although I suppose you could skip all that and just self-study, its easy enough to do.
