AP Eng Comp & Lit Books

What books did you guys read in these classes? Also, are you doing any assigned readings for the summer?

Eng Lang:
The Scarlet Letter
Huck Finn

Eng Lit:

There are only two English classes....Lang/Comp, and Lit/Comp....by 'Comp' do you mean Lang?

For Lit. go with Cliffsnotes. It is brillant--10 practice tests and numerous essay examples. On top of that, the author is an AP question writer.

I have to read the Bible, Mtyhology, Einstein's Dreams, and Good Poems as part of the AP Lit. summer homework for my school.

I will probably use 5 steps for a 5 as a prep book. However, for English classes, the best prep is just taking practice MC/Essay tests.

our assigned summer reading for ap lit is:
Catch-22
Things Fall Apart
The Great Gatsby

accel-The entire Bible?

Assigned summer reading for Ap lang is:

Love in the Driest Season by Neely Tucker
Passage to India by Forster
Nature/ Self-Reliance by Emerson
Man’s Search for Meaning by Frankl
Wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey Now by Angelou

Summer reading for Lit:
Cry, the Beloved Country (Alan Paton)
The Third Life of Grange Copeland (Alice Walker)
Cat's Eye (Margaret Atwood)
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (Alexander Solzhenitsyn)

I don't know what books are read during the year, but there is a lot of them... If the teacher thinks they have time, she will put in an extra book or two before the AP... we don't have lang

thesloc,

oh sorry about that! NO. the four books: Genesis, Exodus, Job, and Matthew.

Our teacher is making us read the Bible, Mythology, and other classics so that we can be knowledgeable about Biblical, Greek, and Roman references...

Our Lit teacher has been teaching for quite a long time and she truly believes these things will help us achieve a higher AP score...

Will all the books in summer reading be read during the course of the year?

Since my first post was completely irrelevant, I'll try to make it up..

The reading list for the most part follows what CB generally suggests for its open essay: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/english_lit/samp.html?englit

Where is the reading list? I dont see it..

I got more stuff to do than worry about this crap. I started too early last year, I thought.

well, i started June 1st and finished mid july and had over a month to forget.

i think i'll start July 1st.

If I read 50 pages a day, it will take ~30 days to finish my books

I'm taking lang next year. Summer reading:
The Scarlet Letter
The Jungle

For lang we read lotsa stuff throughout the year..but summer reading we chose one book from a list of like 40..

Lang:
Scarlet Letter
The Crucible
Great Gatsby
Scarlet Letter
Moby Dick
Catch-22
Huck Finn
and...Catcher in the Rye for Extra Credit

(there might have been more, i forget.)

I took AP Lang last year, and we only had to read Anna Karenina for summer reading.

During the year, we read:
