AP Eng. Lit Summer Reading - what to read?

We need to read one of the following books:

Tess of the D'Uberbilles
Antony and Cleopatra
A Tale of Two Cities
Candide
Mansfield Park
The Life of Pi
Catch-22
Atonement

Has anyone read any of these books before? Were they any good?

Any input would be helpful, thanks :)

I've read The Life of Pi and Catch-22, and they're both pretty good!

The Life of Pi: The story about a man who sails the pacific ocean on raft with a tiger on accident. Bizarre, but interesting.

Catch-22: A satirical story about war. There are some sarcastic lines that make you laugh, and yet, a depressing story.

I love Catch-22.

Candide is really short, and is amazingly funny toward the beginning, but gets kind of old.

Those are the only two I've read personally. Though an outdoor production of Antony and Cleopatra was probably my single most traumatic Shakespeare experience ever. But that wasn't due to the play itself, just the production.

A Tale of Two Cities- long...
Candide- agree with pinnipotto, really short, funny at first but eventually gets old...
Mansfield Park- only for those who like Jane Austen
Catch-22- mega-sarcasm

Couldn't tell you about the rest

If you want to get it over with quickly, I'd personally choose Candide. You'll never look at experimental physics the same way again.

thanks for the responses :)

length is not really an issue, I'm a faster reader. But I don't want to read a boring book, those take much longer to read. lol

However, I only have 2 weeks to do some RL stuff, plus read my AP english book and do the assignment, and my AP Bio homework, which will be a few chapters and a test. (Probably complicated work, knowing the teacher) Then I leave for the month to study abroad in England, so all my work has to be done before I leave.

Catch-22.....
