There are two, right? Comp and Lit?

I saw them and thet look like SAT verbals.

What's the big deal? And what's the difference between them (because I cannot tell!)?

AP Comp. involves answering around 50 multiple choice questions based off of passages, coupled with three essays (one argument/issue, two analyzing passages for rhetorical devices, tone, etc).

AP Lit. involves answering questions based on literature (I believe).

I am in Comp., so I can definitively outline that for you.

Oh, okay. Thanks.

Do you think a nice Barron's or Princeton's book is good enough prep? I've been taking preIB, IB and now AP english all highschool. I may or may not do it again next year, but do you think a workbook is prep enough?

I guess for Comp....

Practice the multiple choice. A lot.

My teacher actually did a LOT of Lit. with us, really working on our writing. We have written so much this year, and that's the best way to prepare. the AP Comp. exam can't be studied for really. The way my teacher taught, he basically told us that we could take the AP Lit. exam even though it isn't a Lit. course.

I would say...for Comp, use the Cliff's Review
For Lit...I'm doing it right now, haven't really reviewed but I suppose I might get the Cliffs. It is a good review book for both AP English tests--but really focus on the essay portion of both: that is what the actual AP class is centered around. Hope I helped and good luck!

The AP Comp. is 60% essays and 40% for multiple choice as far as scoring goes. Usually, the essays are the strong part of the test for most students. The multiple choice, however, is where people traditionally lose points (at least in my school). It can be really tricky and practice is essential.

At this point, I usually get a 9 on the issue question and 8 on the analytical question, along with about 3/4 of the multiple choice. I have about a 4 I would think right now, but if I can have a good day with the multiple choice I could possibly get a 5.

i'd have to agree that cliff's was great review for ap comp - but what's a good review book for ap lit mcq?
