AP English help

Hello everyone,

I need some help. We have been practicing for the AP test all year, and I am still encountering difficulty. The essay portion I manage to do well on all the time; my concern is the multiple choice section. I am an avid reader, and I read quickly; however, when it comes to the test, I find myself regressing and missing the concepts, or thinking too deeply into the subject the passage might pertain to. Time dwindles down and I find myself with several questions left. I also fail to recognize the correct answer because of the regression and miss what the passage is concerned with. How can I avoid this? It is a pain to search back through to find a specific line and then have to ponder the question for so many minutes: I just get caught up. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm having the same problem too. I do notice that for a lot of questions, the answer depends on only one choice of word. It's very specific. If it's a long passage, I usually read the questions first. If it's short, you can bet they will ask you a question on almost every sentence, especially if it's an older piece, so I just go right to the passage. Anyway, the key for me is not to dwell on anything in the passage that is not asked in the questions.

bump..............
