For my junior year, I have the option of taking Honors English 11 with a teacher at my school, or taking it through an online program sponsored by my school/state (Alabama ACCESS).
I really am not sure if taking it online is a good idea, but I really would love to take AP; however, I am already taking 2 other classes online through the same program at my school this coming year. I would be the only student to take AP Lang in my grade. My school is very small and only offers one AP class (USH).
For an ACCESS (online) class, I just go into our computer lab for the time that I would be in a regular class and do the assigned work.
So, which should I take? I can't decide :(. Thanks in advance!

How about taking the honors English class with a real teacher and then signing up for the AP exam on your own? Get a couple of review books for the AP so you are familiar with the test and you should do fine. My children’s schools did not offer the English APs, but they took the exam anyway and got 5s.

Thanks! Any other opinions?

I also took Honors English 11 at my school (my school had AP English, but I decided not to take it since the rest of my classes were AP and I didn’t particularly enjoy writing essays), and took the AP English Language test (I got a 4 and didn’t do any special test prep/preparation). The test is really just analyzing passages/reading comprehension/writing essays, so as long as you feel comfortable doing that stuff, I think you’ll be fine! I also took another AP test for a class I didn’t take (I took the Physics C exam after taking Physics B, because my school didn’t offer Phys. C) and passed… I just had to ask the person in charge of AP testing to sign me up and I had to pay for them, whereas if you were actually enrolled in the class, it was free.

I took AP Lit (the test, not the class) this past year. (I’m a rising senior, all IB classes.) It - and I believe both AP English courses, to some extent - are very similar to Critical Reading on the SAT. I think you could easily test just by taking honors English and reading through one review book and online resources.

Any thoughts on how it might be of I take it via distance learning?
