***AP English Language and Composition Thread 2016-2017***

Since no one had already started this thread, I thought I’d take the liberty of starting it.

So has anyone already finished their summer assignment? My summer assignment was to read Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer. I already finished it and took notes it. I give it 4.75/5 stars.

I have to read two books and I haven’t started yet

What two books? @HritikKumar

@ak2018 The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls and Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

Nice, I have to read Great Gatsby and Into the Wild

@Tobster18 Did you already read Into The Wild?

Hello, I’m new here and for my summer assignment I have to read two non fiction books: “They Say, I Say” which is to better write argumentative essays and Fast Food Nation.

We had a list to choose from so I’m reading Catch-22

@HritikKumar Did you read the Glass Castle yet?It was the other choice I could’ve choosen for my summer assignment.

I just finished listening to The Dragonfly Effect by Gordon Korman! It was a really great read!

@ak2018 no I haven’t had a chance to read it yet

TSIS is terrific. I like FFN as well, esp. the chapter on flavor factories.

@HritikKumar I read The Glass Castle for class last year! It was really entertaining.

@Tobster18 My class also read The Great Gatsby too! Again, it was great.

I’m so jealous of all you who are reading fiction books. ;-; I have to read On Writing by Stephen King.

@LeopardFire My book, Into the Wild, was non-fiction, but it had the feeling of a fictional book.

I have to read Billy Budd, the sailor. I need help understanding the book. If anyone has read it, can you send me helpful tips on how to successfully understand the book? Thanks.

@FutureGirlPres I haven’t read it, but you’d probably be able to find something about it online.

I have to read Brain Rules by John Medina and a nonfiction book of my choice. I’m reading Blink by Malcolm Gladwell and it’s fascinating.

Surprisingly good, actually!

I need to read The Glass Castle (it was really good btw) and write two essays on it. Then I have to find 10 grammar mistakes in newspapers, magazines, etc. (this part is really annoying). Lastly, I have to read a nonfiction book from the NYT bestsellers list. I read When Breath Becomes Air and really enjoyed it. Good luck to everyone with your assignments!!
