AP English Language and Composition?

So, I plan on taking AP Lang next year as a junior. To anyone who has or is taking the class, how is it? i.e. how much work is there (I know this varies), what do you do, what is it about, etc.

I noticed your other post and I have to say that the difficulty depends on all the classes that you taking. I’d need to know what the rest of your schedule is, how much you like or how good you are at certain subjects and how good the teachers are.
If you just want to know how much work is involved with the class ask people at your school who have taken or are taking the class, make sure to ask students who had different teachers so that you can know how good each teacher is or how well they teach.

This is a tentative schedule, but it would probably be this:

AP Psychology
AP French
APUSH (maybe)
Calculus
English 11
Spanish 11

I would also be in the:
National Honor Society
Tri-M Music Honor Society
National French honor Society

And:
Volunteer Work/EC’s/Community Service

How much time do those ECs take?
You should really ask your fellow classmates about those classes because they know more about your school than I do.
AP Psychology is usually considered an “AP lite” meaning that it’s not as hard as other AP classes (though this may vary at your school), but requires a lot of memorization so if you’re not good at that, it’s probably not a good idea. Again cannot stress the importance of asking classmates about the class, they know your school, I don’t.
Why don’t you have a science class? Colleges usually like to see chemistry, biology, and physics. (AP Psych does not usually count as a science class.) What science classes have you already taken? Why did you decide not to take science next year?

It’s pretty hard to say how much work goes into a class if we’re all at different schools. However, I can give you a general idea of what goes on. You’re going to learn to analyze writings rhetorically, meaning you’ll see how authors use literary devices, how things like word choice and structure can make writing stronger, etc. Your writing is going to be whipped into shape, and you’ll learn how to read critically and write effectively. I think it’s a pretty worthwhile class.

@IAmNotCreativ I finish with all scince classes this year in 10th grade. In 8th grade I took Physics, in 9th grade I took Chemisty, and I’m now taking Biology. I may take AP Bio Senior year (possibly not). I wouldn’t take AP Chem or AP Physics. For AP’s, I lean more towards languages and social sciences.
