I signed up to take the AP English Language test, and I'm currently in English H (we don't get to take the AP English class until next year). Do you think this is a good idea? What can I use to study? What books should I read? Should I start preparing now? Help please! :) thank you.

bump bump bump

if u reallly really wanna do well on AP Eng. Language. Know your RHETORICAL DEVICES as if ur life depended on it. I THINK most of the multiple choice asks you questions relating to them. In the essays, you just show how you know what the devices are and how they are used and how they give a deeper dimension to the passage. Sprinkle some quotes and...TA-DA! you have a 5 on the AP Eng. Language exam. (btw, I got a 3 but I am sure u would fare (spelling?) a lot better than me)

If you're a good writer and do well on SAT critical reading type stuff, go ahead and take it. I took it no prep, no class as a soph and got a 5.

But wait. You signed up to take the AP Lang test already? It's only November.

our school made all the AP students pay early this year, since many people slack off and don't take the test in spring...pretty stupid. but whatever...

uh-oh, i have no idea what you mean by rhetorical devices..definition please?
also any books i should read?

like irony and metaphor and stuff like that. just get an ap book like the cliffs one and learn them

Get this book: Cliffs AP English Language and Composition

MC part will be easy for you. For the essay part, just do some practice essays and you'll be fine.

i didnt take the AP class. my teacher gave me and my friend who were gonna take it a few practice tests and we did a few practice essays.

as long as u write pretty well ull be fine. i thought i did HORRIBLE on the multiple choice and my essays sucked. and i got a 4.
