AP English Lit-----grading

<p>How is the AP English Lit exam graded? What percentages of the overall score are each of the sections? What kind of score do I need to make on the multiple choice and free response to get a 5? or a 4?</p>

<p>And does anyone know how closely the Cliffs Lit tests are to the real exam?</p>

<p>Pianissimo--MC is 45% and FR is 55%. It varies with the test, but let's say you got 35 multiple choice correct out of 55, skipped 10 and got 10 wrong. The MC score would be </p>

<p>35-2.5 ~= 32.5 * 1.2500 = 41. </p>

<p>The score for a 5 is around 100-110, let's say it's 105, so you would need 64 points total on the FR. The formula for FR is </p>

<p>(Essay1+Essay2+Essay3)*3.0556 where Essay1, etc refer to the score out of 9 of each essay. Therefore, if you need 64 points, you would need a total of 21 or so points on the essays, meaning a sample score could be 8-7-6. This is the bare minimum for a 5. For a 4, it is usually around 90-95 points.</p>
