AP English Lit on Thursday

@Rain202 please explain what you that will make them laugh  How in the world did you write 4 pages? I would not dare to write that much for fear of not doing the others in time.

Rain that sounds pretty good. Thatā€™s something similar to what a classmate of mine said. Kicking myself now for not picking up on that.

My essays were around two pages each, one was shorter than that

@dreamer2012 what answers discussed here? Do you mean what you interpreted for the essays? You may take different interpretations and still get a high score.

Anyone else say Estrella was passive aggressive? lol kill me now

Picordy- mine were 1.5, 2, and 2. Iā€™m a concise, to the point writer. Hopefully that doesnā€™t hurt me

Dreamer- stay positive and donā€™t speculate! English is way too arbitrary to try to guess what the AP graders think is a correct answer

Weā€™ll all find out in July. Why July, why?!

College Board are all sadists. Duh

Ummm kinda lateā€¦ but whateva!

Poetry Essay: Wrote about how it collapse into itself, the physical sound changes, and how repetition of certain words actually mimic desire, soft and alluring then blatant and unavoidable. Apparently it was a creative interp

Prose Essay: Characterization by point of view. The reader understands the character better because the prose itself is rather playful mimics the view of a child. My best example outside the passage is like the movie version of Matilda when Matilda does her little asides.

Novel Essay: Panicked and choose Persepolis by Marjane Satrapiā€¦Itā€™s an autobiographical memoir written as a graphic novelā€¦ Iā€™m screwed. If the reader can overlook or forgive that, I wrote a pretty good essay about the Iranian totalitarian government and the effects on youth.

Hated the Shakespearey MC passage (the greek guys) and probably interpreted the Frog wrongā€¦ definitively said regal for one of the answers. Kings are lonely right? And the moss was velvet. Velvet: the fabric of kings. hahaha.

I believe ā€œregalā€ was an answer for a question about the characterization of the frog. IMO, the frog was far from regal. He was an unfortunate-looking, wretched little creature.

I picked ā€œregal and dignifiedā€ as well but I now do not think it was correct.

Anyone remember anything else from the grief passage?

I think that passage had 6-8 questions xD

Also I remember that one of the answers for the marius passage was that what was the speaker/author praising marius for, the answer I believe was how he managed to time his death perfectly

Also the ā€œFor emulation hath a thousand sonsā€ question was the answer that Achilles has many rivals or the answer had the word rivals in it? Cause I remember in this particular passage emulation meant jealousy

Reflecting upon the exam, my multiple choice was not completely atrocious, but my essays were. I had a weak thesis for every essay. I predict my essay scores will be 2, 1, and 1. Iā€™ll probably get a 2 or 3 on the exam.

I think I remember your question? I put the answer that the guy just came to fame or something because the whole premise of the passage was how a person is only famous by the good deeds that they have done recently. The problem is that Ulysses lost his fame because he had not done any deeds recently and simply was forgotten. But the new guy ( the guy questioned) was a person that recently received fame.

P.S. This was my interpretation of the passage, correct me if Iā€™m wrong. Also I might have switched the people, sorry I forget quickly.

@Ace you pretty much got it except it was Achilles the guy that ā€œlostā€ his fame and Ajax was the new guy.

So about the marius question, there was a question that asked what was the author praising marius for right?

and was the answer of the impeccable timing to his death?

^I think the wording of the answer was ā€œapt timing,ā€ but yes, thatā€™s the right answer.

Goodnessā€¦ I walked into the test with confidence and after the MC, I was sad :))) It was harder than my practice tests. I got most of what you guys agreed on here, but some noppppeee. Iā€™m guessing I got 60-70% of MC.
The essays were ok. The first, I may have misread a few lines. The second, too easy!!! The third, Iā€™m expecting at least a 7, although I talked about two characters being affected by surroundings instead of ā€œa characterā€ā€¦

Appass: MC 40, 7, 7, 7 = a four, super close to 5. Hopefully the cut off score for a 5 this year is a bit lower!
