AP English Lit reading recommendations?

I’m taking AP English Lit next year, and over the summer our teacher did not give us a reading list to go over during the break. Does anyone have any reading recommendations to prepare me for the course?

My daughter is taking AP Lit next year. Over the summer she is supposed to read Frankenstein and as much poetry as she can stand (which isn’t much).

My class read How to Read Literature Like a Professor over the summer as well as Jane Eyre. How to Read Lit was very informative.

I second How to Read Literature like a Professor. I also read Kite Runner and Thr Color Purple. I had to annotate all the books, so it was great preparation for the rigor during the school year.

Read Jane Eyre. It’s an excellent way to prepare yourself for the literary passages you will encounter on the test. Read Andrew Marvel’s To His Coy Mistress. My opinion is that understanding classics is a much better way to prepare for these tests because they tend to use more sophisticated vocubulary and are challenging reading that requires thought.
