So fellas, exams in two days. How are you all preparing for it?

I’m not…I gave up on this one…IU doesnt even give cedit for it.

I need a 5 to get credit. Pulled a 5 off on Lang last year, but the Lit essays are going to be much harder to BS.

Prob going to do a prac test tomo and maybe look over some terms. That’s it.

Probably the hardest and most important exam for me this year out of the 11 I’m taking. Need the 5 for getting out of the freshman course. :

still dunno if i get credit -_- probably not. im tempted just to take it anyways though bc i paid and i wont have to take my bio final that day

i guess ill just sparknote the books weve read these past 4 years (for themes and stuff)

^ I’m going to go with Sparknotes too… the third essay question is definitely the hardest. The other two are basically covered in Lang last year (except one is for a poem…)
A little worried about the MC though. The practice ones we got were… pretty intimidating. Plus, our school cut AP Practice testing (like 3-hour sessions) so we had to split the practice test into 3 class sessions, because other teachers were protesting that it was “too much of an inconvenience” for them to move their classes around due to AP testing.
Grr.

Very true. I don’t think that grandiloquent language will disguise the vacuity of my theses come Thursday.

My teacher has every single released MC exam, and she has made us take every single frickin’ one of 'em. They were much harder, in terms of reading selections, in the past than they are now. subjectivity alert

You’re taking 11 this year alone? Or is that cumulative?

Yeah, I got a 5 in lang, but I’m not sure how this one is different other than different passages/focus. Probably going to do some practice test, look over sample essays, and pull out the thesaurus again!

I’m just studying literary terms… and shuffling through my brain the novels that I can use in the essay about writing. I’m just afraid my hand is gonna fall off and I’m going to run dry of creativity at the end of the exam, but I’m happy it’s my only one left Even though I’m just average at English, I find language exams to be rather interesting to take… I always find something amusing about them, even if I do poorly. My teacher hates MC so we didn’t do that much… there’s a lot of arbitrary answers so… i don’t think doing MC sets helps much. Thursday shall be yet another interesting exam day! Good luck to us all!

easiest exam for me without a doubt, and I’m saying this concurrent with statistics haha

I’m just preparing my outside literary works. I’m rereading the important parts of them, writing down quotes, some themes, that stuff.

This year.

I’ve been getting in the low 5 range for the MC tests according to the charts, and I haven’t practiced on any of the essays yet, soo… it’s a bit iffy for me.

There’s just so little to study for this exam. By this point, either you know it or you don’t.

does anyone have any previously released tests?

im going to do some mc in my practice book hoping to average a 65-70% on that section for the test…for the essays im gonna go in prepared to use metaphor/diction/allusion/symbolism for poetry and refresh on some novels (crime and punishment, brave new world, hamlet, slaughterhouse 5) and hope i can bs something for the prose. i’m aiming for at least a 65% on mc and 6’s for the essays to get a 4 overall. good luck everyone.

I didn’t do anything for this test. The only prep I’ve had is AP Lang from sophomore year, and I’m a senior now, and a couple of college classes down the line. Hopefully it won’t be a disaster.

Who has old exams?

I’m honestly not worried about this exam. I’ve always been good at essay writing and I have an amazing teacher who was able to make my essays about 50 times better than they already were. The biggest thing for me is the vocab in the MC and getting thrown by unknown words

:P

Have you guys taken the sparknotes practice test? How do you think it compares?
