My school doesn't actually offer any specific AP English course, but it claims that our English study is "AP level". So...any suggestions as to which books to use for both AP English Language and Literature? Study tips? Any help is appreciated.

hmmm? I heard a lot that english is hard to prepare, Barrons? maybe
i hope someone else can also answer.

I have commented about this a lot...I bet people are annoyed by now, but anyways...

I think it is all based on practice and some knowledge about literary devices and rhetoric.
For the FR...learn how to read EVERYTHING in the prompt (the year, the title, the author, the era, the language...like if it is translated). That will help give you an idea about what the author/speaker's purpose is in writing the essay/poem. Usually there are a couple FR involving an actual quote, and one based on a question. Also, learn how to write and convey your ideas pretty fast. Another thing I learned that was really useful...When you read the question/quote...think of a unique situation in history or your life that parallels what the speaker is saying. Like...if they are talking about...photography...instead of saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" which the graders will see A LOT, write about Annie Leibowitz and how she uses her photography to emit emotion (or whatever....just an idea).
For the MC...just take practice tests, learn how to look for the usual questions that they give (Im not sure if I can get too specific about this), and learn about lots of literary devices that can be used. Mostly practice.

This is mostly for the Lang. test, because I have taken that, and Im sure that your english class now will prepare you a lot for the AP.
Im in AP Lit now...and we have hardly talked about the AP test.

Thanks for the advice! Lots of people at my school can just wing it and get a 4 or 5, but I'm not a good standardized test taker, so I actually need to study for this thing.

I am a terrible standardized test taker too! I was so surprised at my 5...not even funny. I think I was like the lowest 5 given...seriously.
