AP Env Curves

For a 5 how many points are required?

Helloo???

91/150 but this year they raise its multiplier so it could be 93/94

What do you mean “raise its multiplier”?

The way it is set up for the MC is [# right - (# wrong/4)] x Constant (it used to be .9 but it was raised to .9278 this year) = MC score. The requirement for a 5 is always about one point higher than the highest possible score on the MC. This year, the highest score is a 93, so I would assume a 94/150 is the level for a 5.

But doesn’t that just mean there will be fewer multiple choice questions? I know in 2003 they only used 97, calling for a greater multiplier. The curve should stay the same as long as the exam continues to be out of 150.

Well they often change the amount used, I am sure if they only use 97 then it is 91/150.

Well no because the multiple choice questions always account for 60% of the grade, which is 90/150. Unless you are saying they raise the total of the entire points possible for the test?

Well how about we put it this way YOU NEED A 91 OR AT LEAST GREATER THAN 60% ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!?!?! AND IT DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE YOUR SCORE WILL NEVER TOUCH MINE ON THIS.

That is what I thought.

What- I’m trying to study for my AP history test, thank you! What do you mean “your score will never touch mine on this”?

You will never be able to even match my APES score.

Well we don’t really know that, do we???
And even if it’s true, I don’t really care. I’m self-studying it and have been scoring 5’s on my practice tests.

I have been getting 96s on MC. You really can’t touch me. I am an environmental science prodigy, which really isnt that hard at all.

I’ve been getting like 75’s which is good enough for a 5 therefore good enough for me. Let’s stop this little argument because it’s seriously distracting me from studying.

Could any body explain this for me?
So the 150 points is the total points MC + FRQ?
Or is it just MC alone?
I am confused…

150 is MC + FRQ, the highest raw score you can get on MC is 90, you need a 91/150 for a 5

Thanks! I got it now.

^Yes but don’t listen to what he was saying earlier about how when the multiplier changes, the point range for a 5 changes. The multiple choice will always be out of 90 so if the multiplier changes, it only means there are fewer or more multiple choice questions. Just saying.

My teacher said that you need approximately above a 75 to score a 5 on the exam on the MC, assuming that your essays are decent. A 60 to a 75 on the MC is about a 4.
