ap enviro

how easy is it? i bought the ap book because i had to for the summer work and as i flip through it it seems fairly simple i don't want to be a science major but i guess this would be an easy way to get my core science credit out of the way so how easy is the actual test?

May I first ask what AP Envs book you bought for the exam? If it’s the Princeton Review then don’t be fooled by the practice quizzes and exams, they’re a joke. I remember the summer work as well, it was pretty simple mostly just mental math. The class itself is relatively straightforward, there’s nothing really mind boggling about the concepts you will be taught. As for the test, well that’s not so simple in my opinion. A majority of the students who I took the test with claimed that it was more challenging than they thought. Personally, I noticed that there were some questions on the test that my class had never even gone over. In order to succeed in the test, try to remember the solid concepts you will be taught in class this year. The best study tools would be to go over your old tests in conjunction with looking at the practice exams given in the AP books. By the way, study hard for your tests, they won’t be very easy either (depending on your teacher of course).

yeah its the Princeton one that’s what we need for our summer work. As i look through it i feel like i was just taught everything in my sophomore year honors biology class

Environmental Science is widely regarded as the easiest science AP exam, and rightly so. I found that many intelligent individuals that easily grasp logical flow of events find the class incredibly simple. I took it this past year and managed a 5 without any studying or work throughout the year. In fact, my teacher gave the class an old exam at the beginning of the year to see how the class fared and I got a solid 4.

Unfortunately, I can’t give you suggestions/information about practice books. If you flipped through the material and everything clicked, congratulations; you are going to have a joke of a class for the year!

Hm…I tend to disagree. My AP Environmental class was also extremely easy; I got A’s in that class while studying for tests just one or two nights before. However, the actual AP test was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Much of the information on the exam was not covered in class. But, if you self study as well as pay attention in class, you should have no problem. I got a 4, with mostly self studying and a VERY easy class. (I suggest self studying from more than one prep book!)

So, what I’m trying to say is to not underestimate the exam! It is one with one of the higher failing rates, and many people end up getting 1’s on the exam because they think it will be a breeze. It is not.

Good luck!

I self-studied APES this year and got a 5. I don’t think it is extremely easy but very doable if you read a prep book. I depended entirely on Princeton Review. I really recommend PR as your top prep book for APES. Princeton Review is concise and has all the information you need to get a 5. I kind of procrastinated and started studying 2 weeks before the exam. For those two weeks I went through Princeton Review several times. Princeton Review is great for quick prep because it is so short but it has all the information you need to obtain a 5. After reading PR several times and taking their practice tests, like several days before actually AP test I just read through previous essay questions to get a feel of how the format was on the actual test. A good percentage of AP env. sci. is common sense so all in all not too bad. Many people may recommend Barron’s or 5 Steps but in my opinion I found those books too lengthy and tedious. Barron’s was like a text book and I found that to be very time consuming so I flipped through it and didn’t really study from it. Also I looked through the practice test in Barron’s and it was comparatively harder than actual test. I think PR is more accurate in practice tests. All in all I recommend PR, it is short, concise and has all the information to score a 5.
