I have the option of going into Ap Environmental Science or Ap Statics but I don't know which one to take. The reason why I can only take one is because both do not fit in my schedule. If I drop AP Environmental Science in order to take AP Statics, I would have to take a regular science class such as astronomy or marine biology. I took AP Physics B last year and got a low B and a 3 on the AP exam so maybe it's smart to drop to a lower science class?

If I decide to take Ap Environmental, then I won't be able to take AP Stat which I think would be beneficial for me since I want to go into business for ungrad. I'm still taking Ap Calc AB regardless of what class am taking next year (Environmental or Stat) so I'll still have a good challenging math class for senior year.

So what do you guys think? Should I take Ap environmental or Ap Stat? Would colleges look down on me because I dropped from Ap Physics to a regular science class?

AP Enviro is an applied science so it’s nothing like Physics or Chemistry, so i don’t think you have to worry about the problems you encountered while taking Physics B. However, if Stats does put you a step closer towards achieving your career goals, I think you should take that route. It never hurts to be prepared for the future. Ultimately, do what’s right for you and what feels right.

Since you’re already taking a math class, you might want to go with AP Environmental. However, both are good choices and both have benefits, so pick whichever one you will most enjoy.

AP Stats will prove more beneficial to you in the long run. Many undergrad majors require a Statistics class, so taking the AP Stats test can potentially earn you college credits for it. Even if you don’t receive college credits from the AP test, you’ll at least have a background in statistics.

Thanks for the replies guys. But I’m just really curious about how colleges will view my regular science class. I mean I was in AP Physics B last year, and dropping to a lower regular science is a huge decline. Do you think colleges will look at that negatively?

APES is usually considered one of the easiest APs (if not the easiest). You can take the test without the class or studying and still get a 5. It was pretty much considered more of a joke than regular ES at my school.

If stats will help you in the long run more and you’ll still be taking a science class then I would take AP Stats. You’ll probably also enjoy it more than APES.
